How to make a MAC OS X bootable Yosemite Disk 2015

Step by step how to create a bootable Mac OS X Yosemite Disk 2015

Step 1

Go to the app store and download OS X Yosemite again, after it downloads a window will pop up asking you to continue and install Yosemite, don't hit continue just go to the pulldown menu and quit the application.
You should now have the Install OS X Yosemite file in your applications folder

Step 2

For this step you will need:

- A USB Thumb drive with at least 8 gigs

- A root account enabled or an admin account on your Mac

Watch this video to learn how to set up a root account

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHiHBDXe5JA

It is easier with a root account so go ahead and set one up.

Step 3
Erase your thumb drive and name it untitled
make sure no other drive is mounted on your computer that is also called Untitled.
If you have the root account set up
Open the Terminal and paste the codes below and hit return
only use one or the other depending on which OS you are running- Let run when it's done you will have a bootable disk.

FOR OS X Yosemite

sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite.app

For OS X Mavericks
sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app

If you only have an admin account run each of these in the terminal one at at time.

1- sudo hdiutil attach /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite.app/Contents/SharedSupport/InstallESD.dmg

2- sudo asr restore -source /Volumes/OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/BaseSystem.dmg -target /Volumes/Untitled -erase -format HFS+

3- sudo rm /Volumes/OS\ X\ Base\ System/System/Installation/Packages

4- sudo cp -a /Volumes/OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/Packages /Volumes/OS\ X\ Base\ System/System/Installation/Packages

5 - sudo cp -a /Volumes/OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/BaseSystem.chunklist /Volumes/OS\ X\ Base\ System

6 - sudo cp -a /Volumes/OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/BaseSystem.dmg /Volumes/OS\ X\ Base\ System
